| The first step in the process is creating a mold. Our artisans start with the artist's original model. They cover the model with a layer of soft clay and then build a plaster of paris cast around the clay. Dams are created so that the artisan can separate the cast after it has hardened. | The picture above shows the artisan breaking open the plaster cast by driving a wedge between the two halves she created with the dams. |
